Get Rid of Failure Once and For All

Bill Gates didn’t become a billionaire in a matter of 24 hours. He worked for it, and he worked for it hard. That’s the matter with us people, we easily give up; we don’t try too hard. I wish we all did though. I wish we can all tell each other “you can do it!” and just go after our dreams and goals. I wish we would not be too afraid to try. Of course, failure is inevitable. But then again, think of the results that you will reap when you finally succeed. Now isn’t that such a beautiful thought?

Because yes, you can do it!

Frederick Wilcox once said that: “Progress always involves risks. You can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.” There is no shortcut when it comes to success. You work hard for it, you earn it. Nothing comes easy but believe that you can and you probably will. Who doesn’t love being an inspiration to other people? That feeling you get when you tell your colleagues “you can do it!”, isn’t that such an instant pick-me-upper?

Believe in yourself. Be that person that you’ve always wanted to be. You have to tell yourself that you can, make it your mantra. No matter how hard the situation gets, never give up. Take it from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.” Try and try until you succeed. It’s just a matter of right mindset and good behavior.

Have you ever seen Steve Jobs’ biopic? You might have heard that he didn’t finish college and yet, he was one of the most successful people in the world. What do you think made him that way? He persevered. He believed in the people that told him “you can do it!”. He made things happen. I can understand that it’s not easy to come up with a cell phone that does all sorts of things, one that people would certainly love. He left this world with a legacy so huge that I’m sure no one in this generation would ever forget. Everyone knows his name. Now, wouldn’t you want to be like him?

Repeat your mantra. “You can do it.”

“The way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear and get a record of successful experiences behind you. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” – William Jennings Bryan. Are you willing to sit around and just wait for luck to happen? Well then, good luck. You’ll need tons of it. Waiting for success to come to you without doing anything is like waiting for the aliens to make the world a better place. You can do it, believe in yourself. Be a better you.

Trying is almost the same as winning. When you decide to risk it and try something, you’re already a step closer and you’ve almost already won. That feeling you get when you decide to go to that interview? Priceless. You might not get into every company or school that you’ve dreamt of going to, but hey, at least you’ve tried. You are one step closer to your dream and that’s the most important part. Those bullies who told you that you can’t do it? Well, prove them wrong. The best revenge is when you show them that yes, you can do it. You can definitely be a successful person, you just have to strive for it.

I know that words are easier said than done. I have had my fair share of ups and downs, and I’ve failed, and I was hurt. I cried and I almost didn’t want to get back up. But then again I think of all the people I love, my responsibilities, my future and what I want in life. Somehow, I always manage to get back up and tell myself that “yes, you can do it.” And nothing will ever top that feeling right after I get back up. The emotional bruises and pain is what keeps me going. Experience is definitely the best teacher and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now, repeat after me: “Self, you can do it!”
